Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The best method to upgrade your equipment in Path of Exile is through upgrading your items. This allows you to enhance your gear without having to depend on costly trades or drops. This article will teach you how to upgrade your gear effectively.
Upgrades to equipment provide an additional bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus scales with the upgrade component level and rarity.
Components

Upgrade components are the items that can make your weapons and armor more effective. You can acquire them by fighting off enemies, locating them in spheres of items or purchasing them from karma sellers. You can also salvage them from equipment that contains the components, or by utilizing high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Unlike most other items upgrades aren't destroyed when removed from an item.
Upgrade components are mostly used to improve an item however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be stacked to increase the level of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to increase the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can also be made to provide extra bonuses. A glyph that has been crafted can increase the upgrade chances of its target while an upgrade boosts the attack or defense capabilities of the weapon.
Selecting an upgrade template in the GUI will allow you to bind it to an item. This will show an upgrade component list that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench when selecting an upgrade template. In either instance, the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components are gathered.
Each component has a distinct experience multiplier, which determines how much more experience an item will gain when it is upgraded with the component. Organic components, like have a higher multiplier of experience than mechanical components. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade using organic components until you reach the experience multiplier of the next rank of the weapon or gear, then change to mechanical upgrades.
Each item comes with a maximum upgrade number that can be received. The number of upgrades is determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the type of upgrade for the upgradeable item. The most powerful upgrade is a weapon of tier 10. item upgrades is a tier 6 gun and an armor upgrade of tier 5.
Sets
A set is a collection of objects that share the same bonus. Each item can be upgraded at minimum once. The upgrade will increase the bonuses that are guaranteed. When you first upgrade an item, its primary stat will be +1. Following upgrades, the primary stats will be enhanced even more (for instance the +1 bonus for 12+/13+/14+) and every time an item is upgraded one of its additional stats increases randomly.
Upgrades can also boost the damage base of a weapon. This could be crucial for certain types of weapons. Weapons cannot be upgraded for an increased maximum defence roll than their base. It is possible to increase the value of certain sets and unique items by upgrading them, however they might not always be better than a Runeword with a high level.
If you are upgrading an item that comes with bonuses the item can be rerolled once and the guarantee will reset back to zero. The same amount of power dies are used to reroll an item as it is used to upgrade it. However, the new item has different bonuses. Upgrading can be done at the NPC [Armor] Boboko in the Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require a power die of each type (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; Dice 7 drops from bosses) and the appropriate amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be purchased by using Gold at the crafting table, or in the Ultra Collection. NPCs also offer special rewards for each level of the upgrade process. This reward is rerollable once and will use the same materials as the first item.
Rerolling
A player is able to play rerolling any item that they acquire in the game if they have enough reroll tokens. If an upgraded item is rerolled, it will be exchanged for an equivalent version at a level 1 of the same item in another set. Reroll tokens are available in the shop for a small amount of in-game currency. They are not refundable. The upgraded item will have the same benefits of the previous one however, its stats will be different too.
In addition to rerolling objects, players can also alter the identity of any equipment by interfacing with an upgrader NPC. This will change its identification as a weapon to armor, or vice versa. The base requirements and stats will remain the same. The change will be permanent and affect all characters that own the equipment.
Players can also increase the level of an item equipped equipment by acquiring upgrade components and communicating with the item's upgrader NPC. The cost of upgrading will depend on the upgrade track, item type and number of crests. For weapons, each upgrade will add an additional 5percent to the damage.
The upgrade of an item can boost its power however, it can also lower its quality. Therefore, it is important to strike a balance between the two. Certain items aren't worth upgrading, while others require upgrades to reach their full potential. A player might want to upgrade breakpoint armor with an interesting modification ( percent block chance or FHR) to see what else it can become.
Rerolling is a popular practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People use it to gain access to the character or weapon that they wouldn't otherwise have. These items are time-consuming and costly to acquire and the RNG does not always work in a positive way. The only other options are to spend money or grind a lot. Rerolling is a popular feature in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
When upgrading an item you can choose to upgrade the weapon or armor. This feature is not available in the current version of the game. I think this feature was intended to add some value to expensive and rare items. However, since the majority of items are replaced quite quickly, and can only be upgraded by one level, you will usually replace it before it gets too old. It's also not worth it to level items that have gem sockets since the value of the gem will far outweigh the increase in ilvl with the upgrade.
When you click the upgrade button on an item, you'll be presented with a small window displaying the item's upgrade template and the crest and Valorstone costs to increase the level of the item. Armor and weapons have different costs, with the latter usually being more expensive. The upgrade template lists the stats that will be added to an upgraded item as well as its current ilvl.
The cost of the Valorstone and Crest is calculated using the item's current Ilvl and the upgrade templates. In addition the ilvl of the new upgraded item will be decreased by the template's lvl decrease percentage. For example the weapon that has an upgrade decrease of 8% will decrease its value by 8-8 percent.
In addition to the base ilvl boost, the item will also receive upgrades in other stats such as critical strike damage, damage from PvE and block, parry and dodge rating. These increases are dependent on the upgrade template.
The amount of damage and defense that the item receives as it gets leveled up can be shown below the cost and upgrade decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons that are not practice equipment get these stats once they've been leveled up. The market will determine the worth of these stats. A weapon or armor with perfect rolls can fetch a much higher price than an unupp'd version. The same applies to other armor pieces, such as circlets and tiaras.
