World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. item upgrader increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is because of how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.
Using the item level can help players evaluate the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it's capable of causing. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor is possible using the level of the item.
On PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory states that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates the worth of an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth, and also that sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
This is not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.
Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.
Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by adding a name.
All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within that range, unless it is an item that is unique or a God roll from a boss of a raid.
Another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade item s. It gives players an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.
Additionally there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.
When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..
The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.
Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
